Why PGDM??

I always wanted to do an MBA that adds up good market value for me. PGDM course is an autonomous course which comes directly under the control of the college than any university making it more flexible. (B-schools like IIMs also award PGDM degree) When required we can make changes and add latest things to the course plan. At the same time the course is more industry oriented which is necessary in the present scenario as I have work experience also. The unique on going internship is also very unique compared to other courses. The course has got AICTE approval which gives it recognition all over India.
Working with more number of experienced people gives the course a more professional approach than a regular classroom and also experiences from the industry. Also the batch strength is small which gives all of us more opportunity of personal attention. The fees structure is affordable compared to the other courses. Added advantage is the name PSG which comes along with it, which has got a big name in the industry. All these things make me feel that PGDM is a better course to choose and that’s why I took PGDM.

latest updates

Gold settled at 32000 as pressure seen last week on rupee firmness helped by capital inflows on optimism that the government will be able to win a vote in parliament and push through key reforms. Also drop was due to ongoing concern that US lawmakers may fail to reach a settlement in talks aimed at avoiding self-imposed tax increases and budget cuts known as the fiscal cliff. gold to tumbled 2.2% last week, the most since June 22.  While the PM’s Economic Advisory Council’s chairman, C.Rangarajan, has warned that any move to put a ban on gold imports will lead to an increase in the smuggling of the precious yellow metal.

Gold price recovered by Rs 170 to Rs 32,000 per 10 gm in the national capital today on emergence of retailers buying for the wedding season amid firming global trend. Traders said emergence of retail customers buying for the ongoing wedding season mainly pulled back the gold, which had lost Rs 270 in the previous session. They said a firming tend in overseas markets further supported the uptrend. The gold rallied in global markets from its biggest weekly drop in more than five months as investor holdings in exchange-traded products advanced to a record and a decline in the dollar boosted demand.

Why PGDM

As I had a great desire to take Management Program and as my ambition to be a prominent personality in the business field. But, I was in a dilemma, whether to take PGDM or MBA. when I enquired few of my relatives and friends I found out that PGDM is a course specially designed for working professionals  which teaches current corporate culture , where as MBA is more of an exam oriented program
PGDM attracted me from a wide range of academic discipline, and I believed that it would offer more challenging jobs and give me lot of opportunities.  The reputation of PSGIM also played a big role in deciding PGDM over MBA. It is a very innovative course and it is a best tool for reach at higher levels. This is a very important thing to consider that without a master degree in business, I can't be promoted to higher levels of job. In this modern competitive business field requires highly skilled and educated persons, so PGDM is a plus point.
In this program I have the option of familiarize with general business courses throughout the program. This program designed to make deep knowledge in various business areas, such as finance, marketing, human resource management... etc

I am very confident that the PGDM program in PSGIM will progress my career and enhance my  learning in right path.

Why do I love You, Sir?

"Why do I love" You, Sir?
Because—
The Wind does not require the Grass
To answer—Wherefore when He pass
She cannot keep Her place.

Because He knows—and
Do not You—
And We know not—
Enough for Us
The Wisdom it be so—

The Lightning—never asked an Eye
Wherefore it shut—when He was by—
Because He knows it cannot speak—
And reasons not contained—
—Of Talk—
There be—preferred by Daintier Folk—

The Sunrise—Sire—compelleth Me—
Because He's Sunrise—and I see—
Therefore—Then—
I love Thee—

Emily Dickinson

The  poet narrates her unconditional love to god, despite her fear.she describes her love to him happened without any reason,by saying, God does not need her to explain why she loves him, it is like the grass blending with the wind when it passes.
The poet shows her faith to god by describing that god know you better then you do,he understand your needs and deeds. she finds god as her protector describing that god as her eye lid who closes automatically when lightning comes. she consider him as her guide towards the path of life, by mentioning him as daintier folk. she portrays god as the sunrise who acts like a father, and therefore she loves him

Solitude

laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone.
For the sad old earth must borrow it's mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the  hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air.
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go.
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all.
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.
Ella Wheeler Wilcox

The Arthur describes the outcome by seeking happiness in this poem.she wants to inspire people to be happy rather then being sad by saying that by being happy people will be attracted to you by which  your life a heaven and, when you are sad you repel people out of your boundary so that your whole life will become a disaster. she emphasis on being happy saying that even the  earth is borrowing happiness despite all the pain it has.
She relates peoples emotions with their life's fate. if you have positive emotions all the good deeds will come to you whereas, negative emotions will leave you in bitterness. she finishes the poem beautifully saying about how life's choice to be happy, as there is room for everyone in this world in the hall of pleasure which is a long journey for which everybody must cross the aisles of pain

Fall of gold prices

During last week, gold prices declined. Gold continues to suffer from Friday’s performance when the metal had its biggest daily loss in over two months. On Friday, prices have fallen to two-and-a-half-week lows following inflation data from China, which showed that CPI had fallen slightly from 2% in August to 1.9% the following month. A couple of U.S reports also affected prices of gold such as the U.S PPI rose by 1.1% during September; U.S jobless claims fell by 30k to 339k. These news items contributed to movement of price fluctuations of the USD against other major currencies, and gold rates.
Gold Prices in International has a strong resistance in the $1800 touched a low of $1735 as the global Gold futures were sold off heavily in international market. Due to continued global economic worries and uncertain financial market Indian Gold prices came near Rs 31100 per 10 grams this week. This is a good news for people planning to buy gold during diwali.

A Tried Friend, A True Friend.. By Madison Julius Cawein

A friend for you and a friend for me,
A friend to understand;
To cheer the way and help the day
With heart as well as hand:
With heart as well as hand, my dear,
And share the things we 've planned
A tried friend, a true friend,
A friend to understand!
A friend for you and a friend for me,
A friend to hear our call,
When, wrong or right, we wage the fight
With backs against the wall!
With backs against the wall, my dear,
When hope is like to fall
A tried friend, a true friend,
A friend to hear our call!
A friend for you and a friend for me,
To share with us that day
When our ship comes back and naught we lack
Of all for which men pray!
Of all for which men pray, my dear,
That long has gone astray
A tried friend, a true friend,
To share with us that day!
Oh, side by side, on roads untried,
Two souls may better speed
Than one who goes the road he knows
With none to give him heed!
With none to give him heed, my dear,
And help when there is need
A tried friend, a true friend,
A friend, a friend indeed!

This poem is all about hopes which  the poet is conveying. It talks about friendship and an ideal friend every person wants in life. It says how the presence of a good friend really makes your life so easy and also very meaningful. A friend should be a person who should help us when we need them, not just with hands but also heart. They should stand with us not only during our good times but also during our difficult times. The poet is in search of such an ideal friend. He talks about the old times when he was his friends and they enjoyed even the fights together. But after some time when they meet all the old feels are lost, their ways have become different; the poet repends on that. And thus the author is in search of a true and ideal friend.

Funny... but not.. by Arianna Loshnowsky

it's funny how hello is always accompanied with goodbye,
it's funny how good memories can start to make you cry,
it's funny how forever never seems to last,
it's funny how much you'd lose if you forgot about your past,
it's funny how “friends” can just leave when you are down,
it's funny how when you need someone they never are around,
it's funny how people change and think they're so much better,
it's funny how many lies are packed into one “love letter”,
it's funny how one night can contain so much regret,
it's funny how you can forgive but not forget,
it's funny how ironic life turns out to be,
but the funniest part of all, is none of thats funny to me ....

The poet is trying to potray sarcasm by adding for every  situations in that "its funny". The poem talks about the bitter truth of the way people are in today's world. Each line talks about how our own near and dear ones betray us when we need them in life! The poet exclaims the irony of life that even though if u might find it funny but actually all these things hurt you a lot! It speaks about how you feel bad when you always have to leave the good things and good people you need in life and good times in life never last forever. it also says that as humans we don't have a forgiving nature, we always keep things in our hearts and portray something different to the outer world as fake! In short the poem conveys the anguish of the poet about the bad things of life!

FUN REPUBLIC: the lifestyle mall...

Lifestyle makes a mark in the heart of Coimbatore with Fun Republic. It is located in the prime location of Coimbatore at Avinashi Road in Peelamedu with 300 feet wide Frontage. It is located at the distance of 3 kms from the airport, 6 kms from the bus stand and 8 kms from the railway station.

The details of the mall are as follows:

Total Land Area: 150718 Sq. Ft

Total Built –Up Area: 525000 Sq. Ft

No of Floors: 6 Levels

Parking Capacity Approx.: 600 (3 Basements)

Frontage: 300 Ft

Access Road: 150 Ft.

The mall has many of the first mover advantage. The Mall is surrounded by densely populated residential areas. It is situated in a very much developed industrialised area & recently developed popular residential colonies. Coimbatore popularly is a hub for Hospitals & Colleges & the mall is sandwich between 12 Famous Colleges. & 9 Reputed Hospitals & 8 Hostels & 6 Famous Tourist Landmarks. Upcoming IT Parks within 2 Km from Mall.

Fun Republic Mall Location near by Colleges will give it more advantage as most of the youth will be the floating visitors to it. Being an established group in North India, Fun Republic will be a major competitor to Brooke fields. Brooke fields with its mixed anchors like RMKV and International looks like bazaar, but Fun Group is very keen to maintain consistency in the anchors, that is the reason they have opted for International brands only. But it might turn bad also for the mall, because international brands don’t have brand affordability which many people prefer.

When interacted with the customers they had mixed response. Many of them told the problems which they are facing in the mall. The major thing they pointed out was that the parking facility is inadequate and they are charging it at Rs 10/hour which can be an expensive affair if they want to spend more time. They felt the mall visibility and accessibility is a major opportunity. Even the advertising and marketing elements were lesser in the mall than expected. More importance should be given to important signage and lighting inside the mall also. The glass railing is a major safety and security issue, as it cannot support the weight of anyone leaning to it.

People were not satisfied with the overall cleanliness of the floors, glasses and even the washrooms. A woman told us that there is no amusement special for kids in the mall. They should start the gaming zone soon. Another student felt that she expected more of interior design elements from the mall, the overall presentation of the mall fails to attract her. An old lady told us that the escalator is switched off during the peak hours, which she found very inconvenient.

But overall all the customers were really excited that a new mall has come up. New Population of Coimbatore is looking forward to upgrade them like Metro Cities of India & is looking forward to have a different kind of experience, exciting ambience and entertainment in the city. So there is huge opportunity for inflow of crowd in Fun city Mall as they are creating a Landmark for this new generation of Coimbatore.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AMBITIOUS WOMAN : GEETHA DEVI

Geeta Devi, joined McDonalds a month back as a trainee crew. She is from Nepal. Came to India when she got married to an Indian and now her life is settled here.
We met her when we went to have lunch during the peak hours. It was Geetha who greeted us. There was something dynamic and unusual about her which made us smile too. The spark in her eyes had lot more to tell. After the lunch rush when she came out for her break, we thought we should make use of the opportunity. We introduced ourselves to each other. Geeta was happy to let us know about her life. She didn't had the perfect English , but certainly her customers would remember her warm smile more than the burgers they had there.

We started with loads of questions because she already made us really curious about her. We asked her why there is a need for her to work, as she told her husband who is a security earns well & takes care of all her needs. On that she told us about d ordeals of her life which really inspired us.
She is actually from an orthodox Nepali family. Being the eldest daughter with no son in the family, the whole responsibility of her parents and her two younger sisters are on her. All that she does with full dedication even now when she is stay miles away from them in India with her in-laws. Geetha's family is not from a sound financial background, all that they manage is from the 6000 rupees she sends home every month. Geetha's biggest task now is to get her two younger sisters married soon.
We wanted to know how she manages her life as she has to work and earn and at the same time satisfy her in-laws at home. On this she proudly told us that she is lucky to have a very supporting husband & mother-in-law. It was actually her husband who supported her at first when she told him about the ambition to work and earn for the family. She stays there in her house with her mother-in-law & her husband.
Then she told us about her typical day. Her day starts every morning sharp 4 am, when she would get up and do some pooja after which she would prepare the breakfast for the family with her mother-in-law. By 7 am she starts for the work & reports on duty at sharp 8 am. She continues to work there till 5 pm in the evening. she says even though she never gets to sit also sometimes at work, she never feels tired of working because she is really enjoying her work there. By 7 pm she reaches back home. We wondered how she manages it, because she resumes back to her household chores as soon as she reaches home. Many times at work she will be asked to do extra hour duty during rush days due to shortage of staffs and she would wholeheartedly do it.
She gets an off day once in a weekdays. We wanted to know what she would do when she is at home. She told that she really wanted to go out and spend time with her husband but unfortunately she cant because her husband has to go to work whenever she is at home. She told she has many hobby works, for which she manages to get time. She told that she does stitching and embroidery works at home when ever she gets time. She don't know much of her neighbors who live with her because she hardly gets time to know them.
She told us that she is expecting a child in few months. We asked what will happen for her work if she has child, she told that she will work as much as possible and will not stop it. Its because she needs finance to support her family. She told if not her her at least her child should get all the facilities of life, for that she is ready to do anything. She told that just because of financial reasons she couldn't fulfill her ambitions and dreams (she told she wanted to study a lot and wanted to be an officer in some good company).
Its really surprising that with all these struggles in life she manages to have a smile always on her face. Women like Geetha have strong determination to come out of every odds of life and enjoy life to maximum. Hats off to her spirits.
